About UnGovr
A nonprofit initiative building civic infrastructure.
Who we are
UnGovr is a US based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making government information accessible, searchable, and machine-readable. We believe that public information should be easy to find and use by residents, journalists, researchers, and civic organizations.
We're building the infrastructure that makes government more legible – not replacing official systems, but providing a consistent interface that helps people navigate the complexity of local government.
Who we serve
UnGovr's impact is greatest for people who face the highest barriers to government access: residents who don't speak English, people who depend on accessible interfaces, immigrants who need to interact with government without unnecessary personal exposure, working families without time to navigate complex bureaucracies, and rural communities far from government offices.
By providing a single WCAG 2.1 compliant, multilingual interface across every jurisdiction, UnGovr solves a problem no individual agency can: consistent, barrier-free access regardless of where you live or which agency you need.
Our approach
We start focused and build repeatable patterns. Rather than trying to cover every jurisdiction immediately, we develop approaches in specific geographies and use cases that can expand over time.
We work in the open. Our vision, architecture, and progress are publicly documented. Learn more about the technology behind UnGovr. We welcome collaboration with other organizations working on civic technology.
We maintain independence. As a nonprofit, we don't have shareholders demanding growth at any cost. This allows us to focus on what actually helps residents engage with their government.
