UnGovr SMS Notifications – Opt-In Consent

UnGovr uses a toll-free phone number to send informational text messages to people who choose to receive them. This page explains how we collect, record, and manage consent ("opt-in") for those SMS messages.

Program Overview

UnGovr uses text messages to share important information such as:

  • Updates on open records requests you initiate through UnGovr
  • Reminders about deadlines, hearings, or meetings you choose to follow
  • Security and account alerts related to your UnGovr account

Program name: UnGovr Alerts (SMS)
Sending number: +1 855-557-6114 (toll-free)

Msg and data rates may apply. Frequency will vary.

How Opt-In Consent Is Collected

UnGovr only sends SMS messages to a phone number after the account holder has clearly consented. Consent must be provided in the following way:

  • You enter your mobile number in the UnGovr web application or mobile app profile page.
  • You must check a consent box with language that says: "By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text messages about your requests from UnGovr. Msg and data rates may apply. Frequency will vary. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel."
  • You must check a consent box that accepts the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • When you submit the form, UnGovr logs a consent record that includes:
    • Your masked phone number
    • Timestamp of consent
    • The exact consent text version shown
    • The source of consent (for example, "web app – account settings")
    • Technical metadata such as IP address and browser or device type

Opt-In Consent Log

UnGovr maintains detailed records of consent events. Each record typically includes:

  • Phone number (stored in full internally, masked in any public or shared views)
  • Current opt-in status (for example, Active, Opted out via STOP)
  • Method of consent (for example, In-product checkbox, Keyword + YES)
  • Program name
  • Consent text version
  • Timestamp in UTC
  • Source of consent
  • Technical metadata such as IP address and truncated user agent string
  • Internal record ID

Managing Your Opt-In Consent

You can change your SMS preferences at any time:

  • Reply STOP to any UnGovr text message to stop receiving messages.
  • Reply HELP to get additional information by text.
  • Update your preferences in your UnGovr account under Notifications.
  • Contact UnGovr support if you need help updating or removing your number.

When you opt out (for example, by sending STOP), UnGovr records the opt-out event in the same consent log, including timestamp and source, and stops sending program messages to that number unless and until a new opt-in is received.
