Delete Your Data
This page explains how to delete your UnGovr account and the data associated with it, including data submitted through the UnGovr Request mobile app on iOS and Android and data you created in LexLint. It also explains how a company or other organization can have us destroy its LexLint organization, and anything we prepared about it, whether or not it has an account with us.

What Gets Deleted
When you request deletion, we remove the following from UnGovr's systems:
- Your account record (name, email, password hash, sign-in identifiers)
- Profile preferences (language, theme, notification settings)
- Push notification tokens registered to your devices
- Service requests you submitted while signed in, to the extent they are retained on UnGovr's servers
- Photos and descriptions attached to those requests, on UnGovr's servers
- In LexLint, the projects, declarations, uploaded runs, work items, notes, decisions and run share links in your personal workspace, and the keys issued to you
Material you created inside a LexLint organization belongs to that organization and stays with it. The organization's owner can delete it, or ask us to, as described below.
What Does Not Get Deleted
Some data is outside our ability to delete, and some we keep on purpose:
- Reports already routed to a government agency. UnGovr forwards each service request to the agency responsible for the location. Once received, that report is in the agency's records system and is subject to that agency's own retention and public-records laws. UnGovr cannot pull a report back from the agency. If you need a report withdrawn, contact the agency directly.
- Anonymous reports. Reports submitted without signing in are not associated with an account and cannot be linked back to you for deletion.
- Aggregated, de-identified statistics. Counts and trends that no longer identify you (e.g., "X reports submitted in Ventura County last month") may be retained.
- Records of permission to scan a website. If you gave us permission to read a website for a LexPeek, we keep the record of that permission after the scan, its report or your account is deleted: the permission text, who gave it, their verified email address, IP address and browser, the time, and what our check of the site showed. It is the evidence of who allowed us to read the site.
- Records we are required to keep. A small amount of information may be retained to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, or resolve disputes.
Deleting an Organization's Data
If your company or other organization uses LexLint as an organization, the organization's owner, or another person the organization authorizes in writing, can ask us to destroy the organization and everything its members created in it: its projects, declarations, uploaded runs, work items, notes, decisions, run share links and project keys. Deleting an organization does not delete its members' own UnGovr accounts. Each member can delete their own account as described on this page.
You do not need to ask us to remove a single run or project. A member with the right role can delete either in My LexLint at any time, and a deleted run is removed for good after 30 days.
Material We Prepared About Your Organization
Sometimes we prepare material about a company at our own initiative, using only information the company has made public, for example a review of a product's public pages to show the company what LexLint would find. We do not publish that material. The company does not need an account to have it destroyed: anyone authorized to speak for the company can ask, and we will destroy our copies of the material and of everything we gathered to prepare it, on the timeline below, and confirm in writing what was destroyed.
This does not extend to public records and published law that we hold for everyone, such as government documents or meeting records that mention the company.
How to Request Deletion
Option 1: In the UnGovr Request app
Open the app, go to Settings → Delete Account, and confirm. Your account and the data associated with it are deleted right away.
Option 2: By email
Send an email to support@ungovr.org from the address registered on your account. Include the subject line "Delete my account". We may ask for additional verification before processing the request, and we will confirm by email when deletion is complete.
Option 3: For an organization
Send an email to privacy@ungovr.org from an address at the organization, naming the organization (and, for LexLint, the organization's name as it appears in My LexLint) and what you want destroyed. Include the subject line "Delete our organization's data". If we cannot confirm that you can speak for the organization, we will ask for more, and we will confirm by email when deletion is complete.
Timeline
We complete deletion requests within 30 days of receiving them. Most are processed within a few business days. Backups containing your data may persist for up to an additional 90 days before being overwritten as part of normal backup rotation; we do not actively use backup data after deletion.
